Panama

Sarah and I at the Panama Canal. Yes, that is sweat on my shirt.
Sarah and I made it back to Panama City dispite Panama Air doing everything to try and make us stay in Bocas Del Toro.

On the beach in Costa Rica
On our second day in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica we rode bikes through the jungle out to the surf town of Manzanilla. Sarah and I both spent time surfing a fun beach break, that when the swell is right, turns world class. That night we enjoyed drinks a a bar in the sand as the sun set.

Eating a coconut in Manzanilla
We repeted the same process in reverse to get back in to Panama and then continued on to Panama City, where we stayed down town.

The next day we checked out the Panama Canal. It was one of the most amazing engineering feets I have ever seen and it just happened to be the 100th aniversary.

The following day we took the ferry to Isla Tobago , where we got in some more beach time and caped off the night by going to a local Salsa bar.
The cool beach side town of IslaTobago

Yesterday we went to Gambo do some jungle trekking and finished the night at a roof top bar that overlooked the multiple cathedrals in Casco Viejo.

Today I lost my travel partner as Sarah boarded her plane for New York. Her knowledge and travel savvy have really shortened the travel learning curve for me. Her and I had a great travel relationship and there was never a fight. We held the same outlook on the trip and our goals were consistently reached while managing to be open and spontaneous. I am alone now and starting my own trip and will really miss having her in tow.

Tomorrow I board a boat bound for Cartagena, Columbia, I hope I have some sea legs!

  1. Im looking forward to reliving my travel experiences through you Mark. No better education than travel! I was blessed to see over 30 countries, mostly through baseball.

  2. I know that you will reflect upon many things as you travel alone. You will meet interesting people and compare lifestyles. You will learn from some and be open to different perspectives on how to view the world. There are so many beautiful spots in the world. I'm glad that you will be visiting many of them. I traveled alone one summer and found that even though I was alone, I didn't feel lonely. Be safe and hope you continue to have good fun!
