Im On A Boat

Our boat El Gitano Del Mar

I just got off the boat from Panama City to Cartagena and I have never been more excited to get to a hostel and take a shower. We traveled for 4 1/2 days via 4x4 and catamaran to reach a new continent.

On Monday, the 4x4 suv picked us up from the hostel and drove us over the mountains to the small town of El Proventier. There a water taxi picked us up and drove us down the river and out to sea to meet our boat, El Gitano Del Mar. After meeting the Capitan Jepi, first mate, cook and boat dog we headed to the San Blas islands. We snorkeled a shipwreck and got to know each other and the boat.

The next two days were sent sailing through the islands stopping at about three a day to snorkel and explore. Every meal we ate was amazing and most of the meat was caught that day.

On the end of the third day we departed for what would be 26 hrs of straight sailing. Now there was 22 people and one dog on the catamaran, so sleeping was very tight and most of the time I would sleep out on the roof of the boat under the stars. It was a long journey with a lot of pukeing, thankfully none by me.

Last night we stopped in Rosario, an island chain just east of Cartagena, for the night and left early this morning to arrive in Cartegana at 10 am.

It was an epic trip that really had its ups and downs, but the crew was first rate and I would do it again in an instant.
